What is a gene?

What is a gene

A gene is composed of a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sequence. The DNA contains the elements required for transcription of a complementary ribonucleic acid (RNA)

Genes are the heriditary units that replicate during the division of cells and determine the characteristics of the idividuals. by a a small mutation a new unit arrise from the gene, this unit is called allel, the allel have the similar affects on the character of the organism and occupy the same locus in the chromosome. allels contribute to each person’s unique physical features.

Genes and Molecular biology

Genes are made up of DNA, each sequence of bases specify a gene in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, The genetic information in DNA and RNA is the central dogma of molecular biology..The function of genes is the formation of proteins and structural and regulatory RNA molecules which are very essentiel.

The main gaol of the molecular biology is to understand the function, expression, and regulation of a gene or Reporter gene.
