Research Collaborations2007 - Oxford Genome Sciences (UK) Ltd " entered into a strategic collaboration with Amgen to discover, develop and
commercialise novel therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of cancer. The companies will generate fully human antibodies using Amgen's XenoMouse(R) technology, which was acquired through its acquisition of Abgenix. These antibodies will be raised against the novel druggable targets that OGeS has identified through its unique Oxford Genome Anatomy Project (OGAP(R)) database.

2006-Alcon, Inc. and Amgen signed a collaboration to jointly research, develop, and commercialize therapeutics for the treatment of eye diseases. The agreement encompasses multiple biological targets and disease areas within the field of ophthalmology.

2006-Galapagos' services division, BioFocus extended its drug discovery collaboration with Amgen for biology, computational/medicinal chemisrty services, and supply of biologically directed library compounds for Amgen's ion channel lead discovery programs, throughout 2006.





Licensing Agreements2007 - InteKrin Therapeutics, Inc. entered into a license agreement with Amgen Inc. under which InteKrin has obtained worldwide development and commercialization rights to Amgen's PPAR gamma selective modulator and partial agonist, INT131. Formerly known as AMG131 and first developed by Tularik, Inc., this compound utilizes a well-validated and potent target for the treatment of diabetes and insulin resistance.

2006-Biovitrum and Amgen have expanded their licensing deal to develop Biovitrum's small molecule 11beta-HSD1 enzyme inhibitors for the treatment of metabolic diseases.

2006-Human Genome Sciences signed a license agreement with Amgen under which Amgen aquired exclusive, worldwide rights to develop and commercialize therapeutic biological products for human use, based on a human gene that was discovered by Human Genome Sciences that may have potential applications in autoimmune diseases, immune deficiencies or suppression of cancer.

2006-Amgen and Genentech Inc. entered into license agreements granting licenses to each other under multiple patents relating to the manufacture and use of antibodies and related technology. These agreements include a grant by Genentech to Amgen of a license for multiple antibodies under the Cabilly patent family (U.S. Patent No. 6,331,415 et al.) relating in part to methods of producing immunoglobulins.
