Terms & Conditions of Use – GEN Biotechnology Database ("the Database")

The following terms and conditions govern your access to and use of the
GENETIC ENGINEERING & BIOTECHNOLOGY NEWS™ proprietary directory (the "Materials") and Online services (the "Online Services"):

1. Scope of License

Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. grants to the Subscribing Institution the non-exclusive and non-transferable right to give Authorized Users access to the Database. This Agreement permits simultaneous access to the database by Authorized Users at the Subscribing Institution identified by the Subscribing Institution's relevant IP addresses representing a single, local network at the Subscribing Institution’s nominated site.

"Authorized Users" are defined as current members of the staff of the Licensee (whether on a permanent, temporary, contract or visiting basis) and individuals who are currently studying at the Licensee’s institution, who are permitted to access the Secure Network from within the premises of the Licensee and from such other places where Authorized Users work or study, including without limitation halls of residence and lodgings and homes of Authorized Users, and who have been issued by the Licensee with a password or other authentication.

"Authorized Users" may also include users from the general public who are permitted by the Subscribing Institution to access the Journals from designated terminals within the Subscribing Institution's IP site.

This license is not valid for associations, societies, or organizations which seek to offer access to their members (as opposed to administrative staff) via their web site. Contact the Publisher for licensing terms and fee structure.

2. Responsibility

The Subscribing Institution is responsible for any access to or use of the database, and will use all reasonable efforts ensure that there is no unauthorized access and use through its site, and to correct in a reasonable time any violations that have been brought to the Subscribing Institution’s attention by written notification from the Publisher.

3. Permitted Use

The Authorized Users are permitted online access to the Database to which it holds or held valid subscriptions, and may download, save, or print text, search results or other information solely for the private use or research of the Authorized Users.

4. Prohibitions on Certain Uses

Altering, recompiling, systematic or programmatic copying, reselling, redistributing, publishing or re-publishing the Database content or any part thereof without explicit permission from the Copyright holder is prohibited.

Systematic downloading, service bureau redistribution services, printing for "fee-for-service" purposes and/or the systematic making of electronic copies for transmission to non-subscribers or non-subscribing institutions are prohibited.

Downloading of Journals or parts of Journals to form a persistent local archive is allowed without the expressed written permission of the Publisher.

Copyright in the Publisher's Database, is vested in the Publisher, whose proprietary and publishing rights are protected under national and international law. Neither Authorized Users nor the Subscribing Institution shall have any proprietary right in any of the content by reason of their access to the Database.
